My fawn girl Cookie gave birth to 11 puppies on 15th of October 2025. We have 1 fawn boy and 4 fawn girls, 2 brindle boys and 4 brindle girls. If you are interested in a puppy from this litter please fill out the puppy questionnaire below.
As this was Cookie’s (GaiAlmas Pippilotta) last chance to get puppies, I decided to use a young and proven sire and natural mating, as we had a lot of bad luck in the last years with artificial insemination/older males/unproven sires. I am very grateful, that Eila Leppälä from Finland let me use her fantastic boy Santtu (Samuraiwood’s Xavier Samuel) who is a proven sire and has excellent libido and is fully capable to mate naturally (unfortunately this is not so common anymore in great danes). So we are happy to confirm that Cookie is pregnant and she expects at least 6 puppies.
Santtu is a 3 year old brindle male with excellent health results (hips: A/A, elbows: 1/0) and his heart has been screened with ultrasound and EKG without any signs of a heart disease at the 8th of August 2025. He is International Champion, Finnish Champion, Swedish Champion, Champion of Estland and has many more titles that you can find on his page in the Finnish database. But as always these titles are not important for me when I choose a male, health and temperament come always first! As you can see on the pictures above Santtu is a correct male with healthy eyes and no physical extremes.
Also Cookie has of course a fresh heart check from 31st of January 2025, A-hips and elbows 0/0. Santtu is out of fawn/brindle breeding lines from Norway, Sweden, Finland and the USA and combined with Cookie, who carries less than 12,5% fawn/brindle blood, this is a very wide outcross with a COI (Coefficient of Inbreeding) of 0,05% and an ALC (Ancestor Loss Coefficient) of 96,83% (calculated over 6 generations). The closer the COI to 0,00% and the closer the ALC to 100,00% the higher the genetic diversity, which increases the chance for healthy offspring.
Both Cookie and Santtu have many old ancestors and are calm and friendly dogs. Combining all these factors I am hoping for healthy puppies with a sound temperament in fawn and brindle in the middle of October 2025. All this would not be possible without the help of Cookie’s Co-Owner Alex, who supports me immensely and who I cannot thank enough for his efforts!
The puppies at the age of 4 weeks. Unfortunately a little brindle girl died at the age of 3 weeks because of diarrhea.
The remaining 10 puppies developed nicely. Here are their collages at the age of 7 weeks.
I found great homes for all my puppies now. This is a very international litter, my babies moved to 5 different countries: Sweden, Germany, Austria, Latvia and Estonia. If everything goes well 5 of them might be used for breeding later on, which is so important for the genetic diversity of the breed, whose population has been drastically shrinking in numbers for many years already. And even though there are fewer and fewer litters of this wonderful breed being born I feel like it is getting harder and harder to find good homes for them, which makes breeding great danes even more difficult as it already is. Everybody who truly loves this breed should be aware of how important it is to support responsible breeders!
